    Introduction into the LUMA System

LUMA Institute equips organizations across the globe to be more creative, more collaborative, and more customer-centered using the methods and mindsets of human-centered design. At this event, you will be introduced to the LUMA System, a framework for practicing human-centered design that people can apply to tackle problems of all sizes. In addition to the LUMA System, we will explore some of the most important innovator's methods: those for problem framing. To be an effective problem solver, indeed, we must first be great problem framers. in many cases, innovative solutions emerge out of a different way of characterizing the problem. These invaluable practical problem-framing methods help you to think differently by enabling you to ask differently. The LUMA methods are organized into three key design skills categories: Looking, Understanding, and Making. The flexibility and versatility of the LUMA System deliver powerful results: Each method can be applied individually, for a focused approach to a specific question. Multiple methods can be combined in different ways as needed for more complex challenges. The methods can be used with any type of problem, in any type of setting. The LUMA System seamlessly integrates with processes like Design Sprints, Agile or Lean Six Sigma to supercharge their impact – and it can be used in-person or remotely.

    Innovation Traps

While the necessity to innovate raised sharply among executives, we still see so few organizations capable of innovating. We can create a long list of companies that lost the market because of the inability to innovate, Kodak, Blockbuster, Sears; the last example might be Intel vs. Nvidia on the ML chips. It would be great to discuss your experience with companies who attempted to create organizations capable of innovating. Guest - Andy Woynarowski Creative director, determinist, leader and an artist.
